Harpers Ferry and Annies NEW Tractor

We all went down to the historic town of Harpers Ferry, at the confluence of the Potomac and the Shenandoah rivers. The Civil War basically started here in 1859. We met up with Aunt Catherine here as well, she just drove up from D.C.. We gave Henryk the choice of Ice cream or swimming in the river, and it wasn't even close, it was ALL river for him! Once in the water with Uncle Rob, he didn't want to get out. They swam for over an hour, he loved it! He even floated on his back unassisted, using some of the survival skills he's learned in swim class.

We came back to Annie and Rob's house around 8pm to be greeted by some friends and their goats. He's meeting so many cool animals, and loves them all! Henryk and some of the neighbor kids were feeding the goats leaves.

I mowed their grass when I got here on Tuesday with their decrepit riding mower. It took two bungee cords, and a 500# tie-down strap to get that thing to barely work. The blade could not be shut off, and the tractor would die every 5-10 minutes. Nice. So I made it my mission to find Anne a "new" tractor that she could easily start and operate without fear of it breaking down or taking her foot off. I located one being sold by some young guys that had their own sort of "lawn mower Brokering service". Kind of what I do with cars. They had a nice, older tractor that they fixed up and serviced. I had them deliver it right to their door and haul off the old one as a "trade-in". $400 all done and now Anne has a nice 12hp 38" cut mower that should give her several years of service. Of course this gives Henryk more reason to come back and drive the tractor when he's here!

We're off for a 4-5 hour drive to southern VA later this morning, staying at a KOA Kampground for the night.
